[Forgive the departure in tone: waywardness will return in due course]
Dear all -
I’m co-organising a few talks on the historical, artistic, literary and mythological aspects of the planets with the British Interplanetary Society in Vauxhall, London. These are coming up on Thursday October 19th (Mercury, Venus, Earth), Thursday November 9th (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) and Thursday December 7th (Uranus, Neptune and, yes, Pluto). These events can be found here: Part I, Part II and Part III. Note: You do not need to attend the previous talk/s in order to attend a later one! We have a series of excellent speakers and it should be a great opportunity to speak about the planets both from a literary/artistic/historical and from a scientific point of view with the audience and hosts: C P Snow we honour you.
I’ll also be teaching a course on EVIL at the Mary Ward Centre in Stratford, London in January - every Friday 1-3pm from 12th Jan to 22nd March. Details are here (I need to fill in this page a bit more but the basis details are up). We’ll examine evil theologically, philosophically, politically, aesethetically and psychologically. We’ll look at Arendt, Augustine, Bataille, Kant, Leibniz, Midgley, Nietzsche, Plantinga, Plotinus, de Sade, amongst others.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the course or the planet events!
And thank you for your support. There is goodness also.
